Greenway Training backs plea for farm safety

Back to news

Greenway Training Limited is supporting this year’s Farm Safety Week. Our team all have young children and we are passionate about improving health and safety on farms. From the 18-22 July, the Farm Safety Foundation – or Yellow Wellies as they are known are holding their tenth annual Farm Safety Week, a campaign which brings together five countries over five days with one simple goal – to encourage everyone in the industry to make our farms safer places to live and to work.

A decade after the first Farm Safety Week, agriculture still has the poorest safety record of any occupation in the UK and Ireland. To mark the start of this year’s campaign, on 18 July the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) will share their annual Fatal Injuries in Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing in GB report 2021/22. The Farm Safety Foundation will use these figures to reflect on what has been achieved over the past decade and highlight how much there is to do to improve the poor safety record of our industry.

Charlotte Boole from Greenway Training said: “We are proud to support the annual Farm Safety Week campaign. A campaign that spans five countries can really draw attention to, and reduce the injury risk that farmers and farm workers face on a daily basis. When many voices join together to drive a change, this is when it can happen. Farm Safety Week is important for this focus but the truth is that we should all try our best to farm safely every day of the year not just during Farm Safety Week.”
