This qualification is recognised by the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) as acceptable at the point-of-sale for professional use rodenticides. Following changes to the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) code of best practice, training is no longer acceptable evidence of competence for the purchase of professional rodenticide. People who wish to gain proof of competence will now need to pass the Level 2 Award in Rodent Management.

This course is for people who undertake management of rodent species in relation to pest control, in domestic, agricultural and business settings.This provides the proof of competence require to purchase professional rodenticide.

Please bring photographic proof of ID and Lantra ID number (if held).

Greenway Training will provide the equipment.

Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled course in preparation for a prompt start. Candidates need to be dressed appropriately in work type clothing and bring a waterproof coat and wellington or work type boots and reading glasses if required.

This Level 2 qualification is assessed by a purely theory based multiple-choice test.

Please ensure there is a dry and warm classroom type space with wifi connection and full access to w.c. facilities.

For the practical element of this course, we will require a dry covered space for the maintenance of the equipment for this course, together with suitable locations for application of an eradication campaign of 'active rodent species'. For PPE, candidates will need a high viz top and gloves.

Once complete, learners will be able to;

  • Understand the legislative requirements for rodent pest management
  • Understand the reasons for control
  • Understand Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Understand the biology and behaviour for a specific range of rodent pests
  • Understand how to survey to assess the level of rodent infestation
  • Understand how to apply an eradication campaign for the specific active rodent species
  • Understand the control risk hierarchy for the control of rodent pests
  • Understand how to monitor on an ongoing basis to manage future rodent activity

Pre requisites for this course

  • The ability to read and comprehend English.
  • Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.
