Farm safety.. If we don’t see the risk, how can we reduce the danger?
Farm Health and Safety experts, Greenway Training welcome the HSE’s new ‘Near-miss Book’ for recording and reporting near misses at work.
Do you record Near Misses? Although near misses don’t need to be reported, they should be recorded. Greenway Training have a limited number of copies of the HSE’s new record book to give away to farmers. This book will allow you to see if there are any patterns in when or how things go wrong. Taking time to review the underlying causes is likely to reduce risk, improve health and safety, and save you time and money.
Manager of Greenway Training, Charlotte Boole is passionate about farm safety and recalls the day when her father almost lost his arm in an incident involving a telehandler. Charlotte says ‘by encouraging your employees to use a record book you can reduce the risk of something going wrong’.
“Firstly we need to be able to realise when a near-miss has happened and record it without fear of ridicule or disciplinary action” urges James Chapman MBE who was awarded an MBE in 2012 for his services to farm safety. “A near-miss is a free lesson in safety and should never be overlooked. Documenting a near-miss or minor accident can be a powerful tool in reducing major accidents further down the line”
This record book has been produced to help employers and employees record details of workplace near misses. You don’t need to spend £8 on a branded book. But if an official looking record book helps you show your team that you are serious about the importance of recording near misses then it’s worth it!
Email info@domainf1ad04.stackstaging.com with your business address and we will send you a copy of the HSE booklet (whilst stocks last).
