Identifying hazardous trees is a vital part of a number of jobs, from park rangers to estate workers. Our training is designed to help you recognise and then report issues to an appropriate expert. It's a basic one-day course to give you the knowledge to be able to identify potential hazards. We'll guide you through the process with a balanced mix of theory and practice. You'll learn the relevant health and safety issues, as well as key legislation and risk assessments. A practical session identifying hazardous trees will also form part of the course.

You will need to make your own provision for lunch. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available all day.

This course is targeted at those who may have a responsibility for trees in the course of their work.
Examples would include:
• Local Authority Highway Inspectors
• Forest and Woodland managers
• Park Rangers
• Farmers and Landowners.

Additionally, this course may be useful for those who work with trees in a voluntary capacity

Please bring photographic proof of ID and Lantra ID number (if held).

Greenway Training will provide the equipment.

Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled course in preparation for a prompt start.

Candidates need to be dressed appropriately in work type clothing and bring a waterproof coat, wellington or work type boots, a waterproof clipboard and reading glasses if required.

This is a Lantra-certified training only course that focuses on imparting knowledge and skills through training without a formal assessment. Unlike courses leading to a full qualification, these programs provide a certificate of completion, but the learner is not tested for a specific qualification or accreditation. They are a great option for formal refresher trianing.

Pre requisites for this course

  • The ability to read and comprehend English.
  • Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.
