Our one day LANTRA course will enhance your ability to work safely, effectively and efficiently in the workplace, reducing unnecessary risks to the environment, yourself or others. Fertilisers play an important role in farming and agriculture. However, they need to be used correctly. Our training will help you to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills to support your role(s) and develop your career in the use and management of organic and inorganic fertilisers.

Course information

You will need to make your own provision for lunch. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available all day.

Our training is suitable for learners wishing to develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the safe use and application of fertiliser and manure.

Please bring photographic proof of ID and Lantra ID number (if held).

Greenway Training will provide the equipment.

Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled course in preparation for a prompt start.

Candidates need to be dressed appropriately in work type clothing and safety footwear (not wellington boots or trainers) and bring a waterproof coat and reading glasses if required.

This is an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, meaning the training and final assessment are combined into a single course. The instructor provides instruction and practice, and then assesses the learner's skills during the course itself, so there is no separate, independent assessment to gain the qualification.

If successful in meeting the required standards assessed, you will be awarded a E- certificate of competence and a electronic Lantra skills ID card for your chosen certificate option.

Once complete, learners will be able to;

  • state the relevant legislation that affects organic and inorganic nitrate use
  • understand product information
  • understand the operator’s responsibility for safe working practices
  • understand the requirements for protected areas
  • take appropriate action to minimise environmental risk and protect wildlife
  • understand how to deal with an incident
  • understand factors to consider when using manure and fertilisers
  • correctly record information.

Pre requisites for this course

  • The ability to read and comprehend English.
  • Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.
