Course information

You will need to make your own provision for lunch. Tea, coffee, and biscuits will be available all day.

Our course will be of benefit to all operators and supervisors of a practical workforce.

Please bring photographic proof of ID and Lantra ID number (if held).

Greenway Training will provide the equipment.

Candidates should arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled course in preparation for a prompt start. Candidates should wear practical clothing and footwear and bring reading glasses if required.

This is an Integrated Training and Assessment (ITA) course, meaning the training and final assessment are combined into a single course. The instructor provides instruction and practice, and then assesses the learner's skills during the course itself, so there is no separate, independent assessment to gain the qualification.

On successful completion of the course, candidates will be awarded an electronic certificate. These are sent to your booking co-ordinator within 10 working days. Candidates can access all their certificates on LANTRA's Learner Hub. https://www.lantra.co.uk/learner-hub

Please ensure there is a dry and warm classroom type space with wifi connection and full access to w.c. facilities.

For the practical element of this course, we will different equipment for lifting techniques of varying weight. The practical area needs to be level and free of any obstacles.

For PPE, candidates will need a high viz top and gloves.

Understand the impact of the health and safety executive on working at height
Know safe working practices for working at height
Be able to identify, assess and mitigate hazards and risks when working at height
Be able to identify causes of accidents
Understand how an accident might impact their life
Understand when a ladder is an appropriate choice for the job
Understand how to use a ladder safely
Understand how to assess a ladder before and during use
Understand basic concepts of safety around MEWPS
Understand basic concepts of safety around scaffolding
Know the danger presented by overhead power lines to workers preparing to work at height
Understand how to plan to work at height near overhead power lines (OHPLs)
Know the various kinds of working-at-height specific PPE
Know truth from fact when working at height
Know what to do and what not to do when working at height
Create an action plan, which is relevant to their current of future place of work

Pre requisites for this course

The ability to read and comprehend English.
Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.
